Seriously, Media.

(Photo from Victoria's Secret Email Ad: I subscribe to these because 1. I like to know when they have "sales" because their scents are fucking delicious and 2. because their photoshoppers are absolutely ridiculous. In a bad way.)

When did ribs become more of an asset than abs?

I have nothing against naturally skinny people, but this is seriously abnormal. Just like the photoshopping of every other celebrity and model in mainstream media, I don't understand why we can't just leave them be. Yeah, maybe change the hue/saturation and contrast a bit so that the photo as an art piece looks cohesive and pleasant.

But why must we insist on erasing fat, wrinkles, and everything NATURAL about people? Why is there an absence of rebellion in this mainstream marketing firms? Aren't they looking for something DIFFERENT?

Well, we've been warping the appearances of people for about a century if not more now, so I think it's about time we stop doing this faux naturelle shit and get real.

I'm gonna make some real fuckin crude and real drawings/paintings in my art career.

Final Project: Zombie Stop Motion WIP

Hooray! That is my new stolen catchphrase.

Super low quality, and only about half the movie is mostly done.

So far, 3 days in class, and probably an equal amount of time outside class. Got another week to finish it all D8 D8 D8

Flash and the stamp and patch tools on PS CS4 are pretty much the most amazing things ever. Bloody expensive though. Soon... soon...

Going to be awesome when it's finished.

Two New Short Stop Motions

Been wanting to do something for a long time with these zombie figures I received from my floormate last year.

Song clip from Kid Cudi's Dat New New (Viking Remix)

Song clip from Designer Drugs' Datamix 06

Also tried something different with these ones. EDITED THEM in photoshop. Crazy, right? You don't really notice it unless you pay attention to the backgrounds... but I think I did an okay job for the time I spent on it. Mostly used masks and a little bit of cloning.

Filter Portrait Progress Pt. II

Prof said the other version was too much like a background and that I should put more of me in there... not sure if she knows that every part of that image is just a filter on one image... but I added more recognizable me plus a cartooned version. I like the other one better, but I definitely like the cartoon version of me in there. Much more personalized, thus much more like a portrait.

[4/9/10 update]

Ughhhh I am so mad that I accidentally overwrote my original file and saved it as 72 dpi instead of 300. I actually really liked this one. 8*****[ And I am too lazy to redo it. FFFFFF

Filter and Sketch Portraits

Filter portrait. It's just a bunch of filters on duplicates of a single photo. I like how it came out, but I know I really have a problem with over-cluttered images.

The swirls in the front remind me of an octopus. And the wave filter is one of my favorites now.

Sketched portrait. I'm not really sure what the point of this assignment was, but it was probably to just get more into using a tablet and not strictly using lines [a cross hatching exercise, I suppose]. I started doing a sort of reverse cross-hatching in which I would cross-hatch with black, then with white. It looks like a comic book drawing to me, so I am totally okay with that.
