Beg. Drawing Update

We will HUG in the shade. PG 300, anyone? Anyway, this is a copy of the following master drawing:

He turned out a lot fatter than anyone would have intended.

And then here's some stuff from my tiny sketchbook.

I'm still hooked on anti-smoking messages and marshmallows. A good combo, right? Artistically stole/learned that background pattern from Jason Sho Green. Didn't realize until now that the character looks a lot like the characters my professor draws [Evri Kwong].

Inside the art studio lab. Buh. Waiting for gesso alternative to dry.

Seriously though, drawing les arbres is a major drag. I take art classes because I would never do these things otherwise.

I am really tired of cross hatching. Also, the delicious nectarines I bought from Costco now give me a mad tummy ache. BUMMER.

Anyway, I am up right now because I procrastinated finishing that master drawing copy until 10 because I spent like 2 or 3 hours making a song from a sad and shitty poem I wrote but never turned in for class. Because it's shitty. They make good songs at least. Finally a serious song.

One + Progress and Sketches

Well, done as I'm going to be for now. As bullshitty as this painting looks... I actually like it more than the other stuff I've done this semester. I think because it has more meaning behind it. Thanks to two of my smokers for light referencing. Haha It was kind of ironic to be sketching them while they were smoking... for an anti-smoking painting.

Also, it's based off of some sketches I did, as shown below.

And here is some more progress on the copy of a master painting assignment. Still not done. I want to finish it and then try to mix the sky into the naked woman and maybe add some goldfish. I want to go for a surreal look. Something for the summer.

The colors turned out a lot brighter than they look in the photo... but I'm not sure if the colors in the photo are damaged from age and light, because they are mostly yellowed in the photo. Anyway.

Here are some other miscellaneous sketches/drawings:

Done as a quick in-class assignment in my COMS class. We were supposed to draw or make a collage of how we dreamed we would be in a year or sometime in the future. After drawing this, I realized how lonely I would be.

This is from not too long ago, but it was a quick sketch of parts of my dream that struck me as peculiar.

Oh, hello 6am garbage truck. Sigh.

This is also a sketch I did in COMS, except it was during a lecture. I can't help it. I seriously think I am developing ADD or something. I can hardly pay attention when people are talking directly to me anymore.

Anyway, I like these mini sketches of hand creatures and I hope to do something more with them.

Overall, looking at the work I've done this past semester...

1. I really effing love color, specifically... blue? Lot of depth in blue. Must experiment with other colors.

2. I like vivid images. And I like high contrast.

3. I'm still lazy as hell. Hate the finished details.

4. I still like digital media better because... every time I make a mistake... I still think "ctrl+z" in my head and it SUCKS that I can't do that in RL.

5. I'm still attached to outlines.

6. I'm apparently attached to writing things in my art, too.

It Takes One WIP

Still unsure of name for this.

I made a lot of smoker friends this year and I absolutely hate their habit. I'm sorry if you're a smoker, but that's just how I feel. I think it has no benefit, it is legal suicide, it is also legal homicide, and it smells terrible, makes my heart hurt physically and emotionally, and makes me cough and sneeze.

What I wanted to depict was one guy smoking [haven't added cigarette yet, but the brightest smoke connects to it], and a bunch of bodies hanging from the smoke. They may or may not have known each other, and they may also be smokers. But regardless, they are dead, and the body at the top is going to have a yellow shirt.

Now that I look at it, the body at the bottom right corner has way too much weight, but it's too late to change it for the assignment. Ughhhh Should've made it a child's body.

Sorry I didn't take more WIPs, been stressing over this one because I'm SUPER NOT FINISHED but it is due... well, TODAY. @_@_@_@_@_@_@ Been using Galkyd medium, which has been super helpful in making the paint dry within 24 hours.

In the future, I will begin all assignments as soon as we get the syllabus so I have plenty of time to change and adjust.
